Blitz Games Studios, the Leaminton Spa based UK Games Studios popular recently for making tie-ins such as Shrek, Mikey Mouse, and Spongebob Squarepants, has closed down after 23 years of creating games.

175 people were employeed at Blitz, and now only 50 of those will be kept on to continue finishing work on currnet, unfinished projects.

The company was set up in 1990 by twins Philip and Andrew Oliver. The pair also worked closely, mostly during the 1980s, with games publisher Codemasters.
