Well after many years and having seen many different shows at the theatre I have finally seen my first Opera, so obviously I can’t pretend to know much about Operas but what I can say is for me it truly was one of the best evenings I’ve spent at the theatre.
The Magic Flute is an Opera in two acts set to music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in the form of a singspiel so happily for me this meant that although there was plenty of outstanding singing there was also enough spoken language to make it easy to understand.
This enchanting love story has everything from scary serpents, lots of really colourful characters my favourites being the three lightsaber wielding servants of the Queen of the night and of course the highly amusing Papageno the bird catcher.
I really can’t express how stunning, moving and powerful all the singing was in this extremely talented cast including the many children involved.
Of course I must not forget to mention the musicians hidden away in the orchestra pit you were terrific and most definitely brought the story to life.
Unfortunately for anyone hoping to get tickets last minute I’m afraid unsurprisingly it is sold out to anyone who has got tickets well done you and I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did .
