Review : 10 Cloverfield Lane

I have wanted to watch this movie ever since its release. Thankfully, I watched it last week and I was not disappointed at all. I went into the movie not knowing much about it so I had no expectations. After watching the movie, I was left wanting more.
I do not want to give away to much about the plot as I think it will spoil the movie. What I will say is, it is not a horror. It’s more of a mystery/drama/thriller. Another point I want to make is that, it’s not a found footage type of movie as Cloverfield (2008) was like. 10 Clovefield Lane will keep you guessing from start to finish. I LOVE THESE TYPES OF MOVIES.
The phase of the movie is quite slow but it fits perfectly with the theme and atmosphere of the movie. The main protagonist and the audience are left in a state of confusion whilst trying to fit the different pieces of the puzzle.

The star of the show is definitely John Goodman. He is a fantastic actor and does a magnificent job. His character Howard is scary, funny, trustworthy, and dishonest at the same time, you just do not know what his intentions are exactly. Mary Elizabeth Winstead who plays Michelle and John Gallagher Jr as Emmett also do brilliantly in their roles. I found some of their interactions quite funny.

I did not want to spoil anything important about the movie so I left the review quite short. However, to conclude, 10 Cloverfield Lane is a fantastic movie. It will keep you guessing from beginning to end. It is at times scary, funny, thrilling, and intriguing. Go into the movie with no expectations and little information. Just trust me when I say it is a very good movie. I do not have enough good things to say about this movie.

Story 8/10

Cast 9/10

Scare Factor 7/10

The good – fantastic performances and original, keeps you guessing

Bad – not that scary
