Two PlayStation exclusive titles stole the show at last night’s BAFTA Games Awards with five wins for The Last of Us (PS3) and three wins for Tearaway (PS Vita) – marking one of the most successful years ever for PlayStation

The ceremony, hosted by Dara O’Briain at London’s Tobacco Dock, featured ten nominations for The Last of Us(TM) while Tearaway(TM) had eight nominations. Both titles were also nominated in the coveted Best Game, Artistic Achievement and Game Design categories.

“There have been some amazing games released over the past year, and we’re incredibly proud to have two of our exclusive games recognised in so many categories, and to have won so many awards is just fantastic” said Fergal Gara, MD of Sony Computer Entertainment UK. “Tearaway(TM) and The Last of Us(TM) couldn’t be more diverse in terms of themes and gameplay style, but at the heart of both games is a quality experience that we hope gamers will remember for a long time.”

A post-apocalyptic action game originally released worldwide on June 14th, PlayStation(R) 3 exclusive The Last of Us(TM) combines a powerful, cinematic storyline with tense action, adventure and a meticulously rendered environment, developer Naughty Dog created a world where survival is at the heart of every decision in the game. A clear favourite among the judging panels, The Last of Us(TM) picked up BAFTAs for Best Action & Adventure, Best Story, Audio Achievement and Best Performer, as well as the coveted Best Game category.

Picking up awards for Artistic Achievement, Family and Mobile & Handheld, Media Molecule‘s Tearaway(TM) challenges players to navigate their way through a beautiful paper world, interacting with the environment using innovative touchscreen mechanics on the PS Vita system.
