I ORIGINS, from writer and director Mike Cahill, tells the story of Dr. Ian Gray (Michael Pitt), a molecular biologist studying the evolution of the eye. He finds his work permeating his life after a brief encounter with an exotic young woman (Astrid Bergès-Frisbey) who slips away from him.
As his research continues years later with his lab partner Karen (Brit Marling), they make a stunning scientific discovery that has far reaching implications and complicates both his scientific and spiritual beliefs. Travelling half way around the world, he risks everything he has ever known to validate his theory.

I ORIGINS stars Michael Pitt, Brit Marling, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Steven Yeun, Archie Panjabi, Cara Seymour, Venida Evans, William Mapother and Kashish.

The film is written, directed and edited by Mike Cahill and is his first since his award-winning feature debut, Another Earth.

I ORIGINS will be the opening gala screening of the 22nd annual Raindance Film Festival in London on 24 September 2014. The film will open in the UK on 26 September 2014, distributed by Twentieth Century Fox.
