CURVE ANNOUNCED AS FINALIST IN THECONFERENCE & INCENTIVE TRAVEL AWARDS 2015

Leicester’s Curve theatre has been announced as a finalist for the Best UK Conference Venue in the prestigious Conference & Incentive Travel (C&IT) Awards 2015. This marks Curve’s second award nomination in recent weeks, after it was announced on Tuesday 28 July that the venue had been shortlisted for Best Event Space in the Event Awards 2015.

Both awards position Curve on a national playing field with other finalists including Olympia London, ExCeL London, Kings Place and the QEII Centre. In the C&IT Awards, the longlist for the Best UK Conference Venue category was whittled down by an expert judging panel featuring businesses, events agencies and suppliers, who met to deliberate and score the entries.

Curve’s Commercial Director, Alister De Ternant, commented:

”I am extremely proud of our entire team for being named as finalists for not one but two national accolades in just over a week. It is a true reflection of the unparalleled service we now offer and I am delighted that this has been recognised on a national level, truly putting Curve and Leicester on the ‘events’ map. As a hub for performance art and, of course, world class events, 2014 has been an outstanding year for Curve both on and off stage. We are now directly and successfully challenging the London events market, seeing us become the ‘go to venue’ in the region for influential and forward thinking brands.”

One of the most technologically advanced theatres in the country, Curve is able to provide unparalleled consistency, flexibility, value, creative influence and production all under one roof. As a result the venue held its largest ever number of events in 2014, welcoming 78 new clients including IBM, BBC, Mortgage Advice Bureau and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), alongside returning events such as the De Montfort University Graduations.

Within one hour from London St. Pancras, Curve has a total capacity of 1700. Its headline feature is its iconic 90m floating Mezzanine, which is surrounded by five stories of glass. The venue also boasts nine adaptable spaces, including a 902-seat auditorium with an independent 200m2 stage featuring 62 automated ‘flybars’ which load 2 tonnes each.

Curve’s second theatre operates as an independent space for 350 people, or can be joined as an addition to the main stage. Two Seminar Rooms provide a capacity for a further 220, whilst three studio spaces complete the venue’s offer.

Fiona Allan, Curve’s Chief Executive said:

“I’m thrilled that the relentless time and effort dedicated by our Curve team to providing a remarkable service for our commercial clients has been acknowledged nationally for a second time. Both our artistic and events offer continue to develop, and both now have an enviable national reputation – proving that behind every great charity is a successful business model.”

The winners will be announced at an industry-leading awards ceremony at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Friday, 25 September.
