A&E has a double-feature offering set in March with a returning favourite, and an exciting new venture.

bates-motelse3Everyone’s favourite psycho with mummy issues is back, y’all. Season 3 of A&E’s Bates Motel will be returning March 9th in the US, with further details for a release in the UK coming soon.

The prequel series to Hitchcock’s classic horror film stars Freddie Highmore as the troubled young Norman and Vera Farmiga as his high-strung, controlling mother, Norma, and revolves around mystery and murder in a small Oregon hamlet.

Also on deck will be A&E’s new freshman series, The Returned, set to premiere in the slot following Bates Motel. It is based off French show Les Revenants, which aired on the Sundance Channel in the US and Channel 4 in the UK. to much critical acclaim and praise. Carlton Cuse (former Lost EP and current Bates Motel EP) has written the first episode of the series. the alarming premise centres on a small community being faced with long-dead residents of the town suddenly awakening.

thereturneds1This show has a ton of potential. for one, it seems to be going the fascinating and grim route that ABC’s melodrama ‘Resurrection’ ignored. and two: it stars Mark Pellegrino (Lost; Supernatural; Being Human), who is a pretty incredible actor that appears in almost every show known to man, but is usually relegated to guest-starring roles. I’m excited to see him finally get a vehicle for leading man status. Channel 4 have said they will air Season Season 2 of Les Revenants, but no confirmation if it or anyone will yet air the US remake version.
