Will Arnett gives hope to fans on the future of Arrested Development
Will Arnett, who plays GOB (George Oscar Bluth II) on Arrested Development, confirmed the show is coming back for a fifth season on Netflix while appearing on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
“We don’t know when, but it is going to happen,” Arnett said when asked about the show’s return. Earlier in the week, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos had said that a fifth season was “just a matter of when.”
The cult favorite was resurrected last year on Netflix after a seven year hiatus, but the large cast was notoriously difficult to schedule for filming because all have moved on to other projects. Likely the question of when the new season will happen is because of more scheduling gymnastics of the cast, which includes Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Michael Cera, David Cross, and Tony Hale.
The show, which had a small but fiercely loyal fan base while on the air, received mixed reviews for its fourth season. Hopefully the fifth season will work out some of those kinks and return with the best season of Arrested Development yet.
