Winter Season announced for the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall Nottingham

The forthcoming winter season at the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall Nottingham offers a magical mix of music, dance and laughter from December to February.

 

Pantomime legend Christopher Biggins will star as Widow Twankey in ALADDIN this Christmas at the Theatre Royal alongside star of boyband Blue Simon Webbe as Aladdin himself. Returning for a third consecutive year will be the hilarious panto comic Ben Nickless as Wishee Washee.

 

Continuing the festive theme into January, audiences will be transported to the magical world of THE SNOWMAN, based on Raymond Briggs book and featuring the classic song Walking In The Air.

 

Heart-warming, feel-good musicals THRILLER LIVE and PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT starring Jason Donovan, promise to keep brighten up wintry days and nights at the Royal Concert Hall in January.

 

The laughter just keeps coming with REEVES & MORTIMER, KEVIN BRIDGES, SARAH MILLICAN, CITIZEN KHAN and PADDY McGUINNESS visiting the Royal Concert Hall on tour this winter. For music fans, the venue will also play host to THE PROCLAIMERS, CARO EMERALD, REBECCA FERGUSON, THUNDER, RUNRIG and KATE RUSBY.

 

Back at the Theatre Royal the longest running theatre show in history, THE MOUSETRAP, returns by popular demand as will the multi-award winning musical BLOOD BROTHERS.  

 

In February a widely acclaimed re-imagining of Charlotte Brontë’s masterpiece, JANE EYRE, will visit the Theatre Royal following a run at the National Theatre.

 

The Royal Concert Hall’s Nottingham Classics Season continues through the winter months with many highlights from THE HALLÉ, SINFONIA VIVA’S NEW YEAR’S EVE GALA CONCERT, JOHANN STRAUSS GALA, PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA, BBC PHILHARMONIC, the SUNDAY MORNING PIANO SERIES and THE ACADEMY OF ST MARTIN IN THE FIELDS, plus the venue’s own BEANBAG MUSIC CLUB for little ones.

 

Home-grown talent will also get a chance to shine with the NOTTINGHAM HARMONIC CHOIR’s two family carol concerts, NOTTINGHAM YOUTH ORCHESTRA, NOTTINGHAM PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA plus CHRISTMAS IN THE CITY featuring Nottingham’s brightest young performers.

 

Families will enjoy the Olivier Award-nominated stage adaptation of Jacqueline Wilson’s HETTY FEATHER, whilst younger ones will enjoy PEPPA PIG’S SURPRISE in February at the Theatre Royal.

 

Dance highlights for the winter season include the return of contemporary dance company RAMBERT, and Strictly favourites ANTON & ERIN with their brand new show, Just Gotta Dance.

 

For music fans, the Royal Concert Hall will offer astonishing choice including GARETH MALONE, GRIMETHORPE COLLIERY BAND, THE GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA, THE SIXTEEN, SINATRA CENTENARY, THE BOOTLEG BEATLES and BEST OF THE WEST END AT CHRISTMAS.

 

Other highlights this season include an intimate stage interview with PAUL GASCOIGNE and the return of the rock ‘n’ roll CIRCUS OF HORRORS in January. The venue’s popular THIRD STAGE and LIVE AT LUNCH events continue throughout the winter months providing a range of informal spoken word and music events on the Dress Circle Foyer.
