Review : Steamworld Heist

I found this game so refreshing in respects to the fact it enables you to make your own robot cowboy crew set in space (made me feel like billy the kid were he a female robot in space). I could not of enjoyed this game anymore as it was such a blast to play from building your own posse all of which have their own strengths and weaknesses. The battle mechanics are great with the 2D setting and the turn based action. The only real draw back I can see is a fairly standard one with some RPG’s and that is the inventory space or lack of it, when I played this game I kept buying more space but this is quickly used up and makes you reluctant to buy upgraded weapons and armour which is a shame.

Speaking of the weapons they are great as you get pistol sniper guns with laser sight and shrapnel firing shotguns to name but a few a great bonus in this game is even though they are for display purposes only is you can collect hats to had that extra layer of customization to your posse.

steamworld-heists-ps4The story although a bit slow to start with becomes very compelling and made even better with the great dialogue and banter that goes between your posse as you level up and recruit more members to your cause.

A good touch is the fact that in each level which is usually randomly generated (another good thing as it gives another layer of variety) there are destructible items that can provide cover for your team for a time or the oil slicks on the floor which are flammable to enable you to do extra damage to your enemies which can sometimes make all the difference.

So to sum up on Steamworld Heist I find it to be a very entertaining game with a strong story great mechanics and dark yet light hearted approach to keep you trying to think 2-3 turns ahead so if you are looking for a reason to pick this game up and give it a try then look no further as I cannot recommend this game enough for you be you a seasoned gamer a young gamer just starting out in this big bad world of games.
