Challenge Accepted? We are ItsMuchMore will be attending this years Retro Games Fair which is taking place at the Britannia Hotel, Nottingham on the 5th October, hosted by Retro Events and Scanline Productions and sponsored by BITMAP Books.

We will have our very own stand displaying consoles across the ages for everyone to enjoy.

We will also have be running three challenges throughout the day on classic consoles such as the Atari, Sega Mega Drive and Nintendo Entertainment System.

These will be played on the recently released consoles such as the Nintendo Classic Mini, the Atari Flashback 8 HD Gold and also the newly released Sega Mega Drive Mini* which is only released one day before the event on the 4th October in the UK, this could be one of the first time this has been on display and playable in the UK since it’s release.

The challenges are:

Punch-Out (Nintendo Classic Mini)

Try to get the highest score on Punch-Out during the first bout versus ‘Glass Joe’ which is the computer controller opponent. This is the first bout in the game so you may want to think about how to increase your score instead of quickly finishing the match for the win.

Challenge Information & Rules:

  • Challenge Times: 11am till 1pm
  • Highest Points versus ‘Glass Joe’ only
  • Winner will be announced after 1pm
  • If there is a joint highest points winner then a further battle will need to take place and the quickest time to win, will be the challenge winner.
  • ItsMuchMore rep will be on hand to track the challenge

Frogger (Atari Flashback 8 HD Gold)

Try and get the highest points on the first stage of Frogger. This might not be as easy as it sounds as the timer could cause some issues and you only have a small amount of lives.

Be careful when crossing the road and also try and collect as many points as you can on the logs as they may come in handy.

Challenge Information & Rules:

  • Challenge Times: 11am till 1pm
  • Highest Points first stage only
  • Winner will be announced after 1pm
  • If there is a joint highest points then challenge will need to take place again and the quickest time to complete the stage, will be the challenge winner.
  • ItsMuchMore rep will be on hand to track the challenge

Sonic The Hedgehog (Sega Mega Drive Mini)

Can you beat 26secs? Try and get the fastest time completing Greenhill Zone act one on Sonic The Hedgehog. This is going to be quite a popular one, not only is it going to be played on the newly released Mega Drive Mini but it is a quick game to pick up and play and try to set the fastest time.

Challenge Information & Rules:

  • Challenge Times: 11am till 1pm
  • Quickest time on Greenhill Zone act 1 only
  • Winner will be announced after 1pm
  • If there is a joint winner for the fastest time, there will be a winner stays on Sonic The Hedgehog 2 for the bonus stage only.
  • ItsMuchMore rep will be on hand to track the challenge

These are the challenges that we have set, so come along and take part you could win yourself a trophy. These challenges finish at 1pm this will give people a chance to play other games on these consoles/systems instead of having to stick to one game.

There will be other consoles on display such as the PlayStation Classic, Super Nintendo Classic Mini and also The C64 Mini plus some surprises. You can find further information here regarding the games and consoles that can be played at our stand at this years Retro Games Fair Nottingham.

The above mini consoles which are being used for the challenges will also have other games to play on them so if you don’t fancy taking part in a challenge and just want to have a go on the system, just pick up a controller and play.

*If the Mega Drive Mini doesn’t arrive in time or gets delayed again Sonic The Hedgehog challenge will be played on a SEGA Mega Drive Mark II and using the original Sonic The Hedgehog Mega Drive cart.
